About Us

Because we believe that quality representation is important, The Bush Films is dedicated to finding the best films
about queer women, trans and non-binary people, and making those films accessible to a community that is interested in the content but might have difficulty finding it on their own.

Our History

The Bush Films began in May 2018 with founder Kaina Dominguez screening a selection of queer short films for a group of friends in her backyard in Brooklyn, New York. With the help of friends, volunteers, and collaborators, we opened the film series up to the public. Since then Bush Films has grown far beyond initial expectations and become a welcoming space for our community to gather and discuss film and representation.

Our Safe Space

We knew how much of a need there was for an inclusive space serving queer women, trans, and non-binary people with an interest in film and a desire to see themselves represented within it. We decided to create the kind of community space and representation that we had been searching for.

Our Mission

Because we believe that quality representation is important, intersectionality is crucial at The Bush Films. We are dedicated to making sure that queer people of varying races, cultures, gender identities, religions and political beliefs can come to The Bush and find resonance with the films. We want to collaborate with investors that align with our vision of centering and supporting queer voices, in order to sustain this righteous growth. We’re looking for partners to join our journey of challenging attitudes and changing lives through the transformative power of film.
